Bucs free agent end Michael Bennett visiting Dolphins
Bucs free-agent defensive end Michael Bennett is visiting with the Miami Dolphins today, hoping to land a deal on the same day Lions pass rusher Cliff Avril inked a deal with the Seahawks.
It’s taken a few days for the ball to get rolling for Bennett, who became a free agent on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
But Avril now locked up on a reported two-year, $15 million contract, Bennett logically is next on the list of young pass rushers. The remaining talent at defensive end is primarily older, veteran players like John Abraham and Dwight Freeney.
So, this is Bennett’s shot. Judging by Avril’s deal, Bennett won’t get insane money. Certainly not the $8 million a year we speculated he’d fetch. But he’ll probably do fine. If the Dolphins don’t bite, there’s interest elsewhere, including from the Lions.
