Bucs have Nicks, WR Williams inactive, Banks active
The Bucs have announced their inactives for today's game against the Eagles, and the big news is that receiver Mike Williams, limited with a hamstring injury all week, is inactive for the game.
In MRSA-related transactions, guard Carl Nicks, diagnosed with a MRSA recurrence in his left foot this week, is inactive, though rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks, diagnosed late this week with MRSA, is active. The NFL and NFLPA issued a joint statement Friday night saying that an outside specialist that said that Banks posed no risk of infection to other players on either team in a game.
Other inactives? Defensive ends Trevor Scott and William Gholston are inactive, so rookie Steven Means gets another shot to make plays; cornerbacks Michael Adams and Rashaan Melvin are inactive, which means safety Kelcie McCray, signed from the Dolphins last week, is active and can make his Bucs debut. Guard Patrick Omameh, added late in the week from the 49ers' practice squad, is inactive.
