Bucs' Kwon Alexander voted NFL Rookie of the Week
Bucs rookie linebacker Kwon Alexander's league-wide accolades continue to come in, as he was announced Friday as the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week after getting two takeaways and 11 tackles in an emotional 23-20 overtime win at Atlanta on Sunday.
Alexander, who also was honored as NFC Defensive Player of the Week, played with a heavy heart Sunday, just two days after his 17-year-old brother, Broderick Taylor, was shot and killed in a fight in their hometown in Alabama. Alexander forced and recovered a fumble from Falcons receiver Julio Jones and later intercepted a pass from quarterback Matt Ryan, helping the Bucs to a 20-3 lead.
It's the fourth time in seven games that a Bucs rookie has won the weekly NFL honor -- quarterback Jameis Winston has won twice, as has Alexander, a fourth-round pick from LSU.
