Bucs make promotions, hires in scouting staff
The hiring of new director of player personnel John Spytek this week isn't the only change to the Bucs' front office as Jason Licht prepares for his third draft as Tampa Bay's general manager. A handful of other low-level promotions and hires have been made in recent weeks ...
-- Shane Scannell, who joined the Bucs last year as a scouting assistant, has been promoted to pro scout. Scannell, who was a high school teammate of Bucs kicker Pat Murray at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey and played offensive line at Wesleyan (where Bill Belichick once attended), takes the place of Zack Grossi, was was promoted from pro scout to assistant to the head coach as part of Dirk Koetter's staff.
-- Brian McLaughlin, who had been an operations assistant, is now a scouting assistant. McLaughlin worked in Florida International's football office as a recruiting coordinator before joining the Bucs.
-- Antwon Murray, who played cornerback at Boise State and had been working at his alma mater as director of recruiting, has also joined the staff as a scouting assistant. Murray was a college teammate of Bucs running back Doug Martin with the Broncos. Murray and McLaughlin give the Bucs three scouting assistants, joining Josh Hinch, a former walk-on running back at South Carolina who had worked in recruiting and as a quality-control assistant at Northwestern.
