Bucs McCoy will play with cast on fractured hand vs. Saints
Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy underwent surgery last week to repair a fractured left hand but will play Sunday against the Saints.
Although coach Lovie Smith called it a 'minor procedure,' McCoy needed doctors to insert a plate and several screws into the hand he broke near the end of the first half of the Bucs' 25-12 loss at Indianapolis Nov. 29.
McCoy, who leads the Bucs with seven sacks in 11 games, will be forced to wear a cast on his left hand against the Saints. McCoy's return is timely for a Bucs defense that already will be without starting middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, who has begun serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs.
Linebacker Lavonte David aggravated an ankle sprain in practice Wednesday but also will play against the Saints.
