Bucs on Winston's new look: 'What happened to the belly?'
Much of the talk around Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston this offseason is the work he's put in to be in better shape for his second NFL season, and as the Bucs opened a voluntary minicamp Tuesday, his teammates were impressed by the new look.
"He lost a lot of weight. He slimmed out," receiver Mike Evans said Tuesday. "I was joking with him the other day. He took his shirt off, and I said 'Man, what happened to the belly?' He's got a six-pack like me. He's put in a tremendous amount of work and I think it's going to be a great year for him and this whole team."
ESPN quoted his offseason trainer, Tim Grover, as saying that Winston has lost 18 pounds since the end of the season. Grover has worked with NBA superstars like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. His teammates have noticed a difference already as they start offseason practices this week.
"He's in great shape -- toned up a little bit," tackle Donovan Smith said. "He's excited and so are we."
