Bucs preseason schedule released: Open at Philly

The Bucs will play their first two preseason games on the road in 2016 -- at Philadelphia and at Jacksonville -- in order to allow for as much time as possible to complete construction on the nearly $100-million renovation of Raymond James Stadium. Most of the specific dates and times will be finalized in the coming weeks.

The Bucs' first home preseason game will be a nationally televised meeting on CBS at  8 p.m. against the Cleveland Browns on Friday, Aug. 26 at RJS. The Washington Redskins will visit the Bucs for the preseason finale Sept. 1-3. Kickoff time is TBA.

The Week 1 game, which will be played sometime between Aug. 11-15, comes against an Eagles team that is being overhauled by new coach Doug Pederson. It's only the second time the Bucs have played the Eagles in the preseason. The last time was in 1982.

The Week 2 presasson game is a short trip to Jacksonville and will be played Aug. 18-22. Although the Week 4 preseason game time has not been released, it most likely will be on Thursday, Sept. 1.

The Bucs played three of their 2016 preseason opponents during the regular season last year. The Bucs beat the Jaguars at RJS 38-31, one week before blowing a 24-0 lead in a devastating 31-30 loss to the Redskins. Quarterback Jameis Winston threw five touchdown pasees in a 45-17 win at Philadelphia.
