Bucs promote WR Donteea Dye from practice squad
One day after placing WR Vincent Jackson on injured reserve with a knee injury, the Bucs have promoted second-year WR Donteea Dye from the practice squad to take his place.
Dye had rejoined the Bucs on Monday on the practice squad, the first week he could after being waived-injured in preseason with an injury settlement from a hamstring injury. Dye played extensively for the Bucs as an undrafted rookie last season, starting five games and catching 11 passes for 132 yards, with a touchdown against the Redskins.
The Bucs again have an extremely young receiving corps -- top two receivers Mike Evans and Adam Humphries are both 23, as is Dye, with Russell Shepard 26 as well. The Bucs could get Cecil Shorts, 28, back from a hamstring injury this week, as well as Louis Murphy, 29, who is returning from ACL surgery in November.
As expected, the Bucs re-signed rookie RB Russell Hansbrough to the practice squad to take Dye's old spot. Hansbrough made his NFL debut in last week's win against Carolina but was waived on Monday.
