Bucs put rookie corner Melvin on injured reserve
The Bucs have another opening on their 53-man roster, as rookie cornerback Rashaan Melvin was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after being limited by a hamstring injury.
Melvin, who made the team as an undrafted rookie out of Northern Illinois, did not play this season -- he was inactive for three games (including Sunday's loss to the Eagles) and did not play in the two games where he was among the active 46.
Will the Bucs replace him with another cornerback? Two other injured cornerbacks could be returning soon -- Michael Adams, inactive for the past three games with a knee injury, is already on roster, and Danny Gorrer, placed on the "injured reserve designated for return" list, can join the team later this month. With that in mind, the Bucs may be able to address another position with the opening on the roster. There is one corner on the team's practice squad -- Marc Anthony, an undrafted rookie from California.
