Bucs RB Mike James leaves Monday's game with ankle injury
Update James left Raymond James Stadium on crutches, with a big cast over his injured left ankle.
According to RapSheet, James' ankle is fractured, and is out indefinitely. The Bucs have given no timetable.
Developing: The Bucs were dealt another potentially big blow Monday night when running back Mike James left the game on a cart early in the first quarter with a left ankle injury.
James, the emerging rookie who rushed for 158 yards against Seattle last week, had 41 yards on five carries during the opening drive against the Dolphins. But, less than five minutes in, James appeared to get landed on awkwardly during a three-yard run to the 1-yard line. He came back to the huddle, only to fall to the ground, writhing in pain. James was taken off on a motorized cart, and was listed as questionable to return.
This comes just a few days after the Bucs placed Pro Bowl running back Doug Martin on injured reserve, ending his season with plans for surgery on his left shoulder. Veteran running back Brian Leonard stepped in for James on Monday. The Bucs also have running back Bobby Rainey, claimed off waivers from the Browns last month.
