Bucs reportedly sign Saints backup linebacker Casillas
The Bucs reportedly have signed former Saints outside linebacker Jonathan Casillas to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million.
The news, coming via ESPN, comes on a day the Bucs added to the league-worst secondary by signing safety Dashon Goldson.
Casillas, 25, and from Wisconsin, has limited experience as a starter but could get an opportunity to compete for the starting strong-side linebacker position. The Bucs have a likely opening there after Quincy Black’s career-threatening neck and arm injury last season.
Casillas registered 31 tackles and appeared in 14 games last season with the Saints, who are shifting to a 3-4 defense. He had a career-high 41 tackles in 2011.
