Bucs send DL coach to Noah Spence's pro day
How strongly are the Bucs considering Eastern Kentucky defensive end Noah Spence for the No. 9 overall pick in next month's draft?
Tampa Bay had new defensive line coach Jay Hayes at his pro day Friday, and Hayes went so far as to run the position drills for the defensive linemen in attendance, including Spence, the transfer from Ohio State who is considered among the draft's top pass-rushers.
No NFL team had a head coach or general manager at the I-AA school's pro day, which was held in weather that dropped below 40 degrees. Spence showed scouts and teams what he could do at the NFL combine last week.
Where will Spence fall in a draft known for its talent and depth on the defensive line? One mock draft from NFL.com on Friday had him falling to No. 20 overall and the Jets, with the Bucs addressing the position with Ohio State's Joey Bosa, who some see a No. 1 overall pick.
