Bucs take N.C. Central CB Ryan Smith in fourth round



The Bucs continue to retool their secondary in the draft, using their fourth-round pick on Ryan Smith, a cornerback from N.C. Central.

Smith could also help on returns -- he ran a 4.47 40 at the combine, with similar size -- 5-11, 189 -- to first-round pick Vernon Hargreaves. Add in free-agent signees Brent Grimes and Josh Robinson and the Bucs will have four new cornerbacks in 2016, with Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks likely the only returning corners.

Smith averaged 28.1 yards on kickoff returns last year, including a touchdown. He's more likely to help the Bucs on returns than in the secondary initially ...
