Bummer Sooner: McCoy loses bet, dons burnt orange
There are few Bucs players as proud of their alma mater as defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is of his days at Oklahoma, so it was especially difficult for him to address the media on Thursday afternoon.
As part of a friendly wager with fellow defensive tackle Henry Melton, McCoy wore burnt orange head-to-toe while addressing the media, sporting a Texas hoodie, sweatpants and even a hat, after his Sooners lost 24-17 to the Longhorns the weekend before last.
"The official bet was all day on interview day, Texas head to toe," McCoy said. "The video should go up later. I had to put the Texas fight song on while I did pushups in all Texas gear. I believed in my guys. That's what happens when you go to Dallas playing."
"My skin is burning," McCoy joked of having to wear the Texas gear all day as part of his bet with Melton. "I almost threw up this morning."
Melton went so far as to text a photo of McCoy in Texas gear to former Bucs defensive tackle Roy Miller, another Texas grad now with the Jaguars.
