Class of 2014 WRs: Where Bucs' Mike Evans ranks now

Mike Evans was the second receiver drafted in 2014, seventh overall.

Mike Evans was the second receiver drafted in 2014, seventh overall.

As the Bucs prepare for Monday's game at Carolina, Tampa Bay's Mike Evans and Carolina's Kelvin Benjamin square off in a matchup of two of the best receivers in a deep, talented 2014 draft class.

Benjamin missed last year with a torn ACL, but is back in a big way, leading all the receivers in the 2014 class with four touchdown catches, one more than Evans. It's a good time to step back and look at the 2014 class and see where Evans ranks, both this season and in his career totals as his third year continues.

Evans was the second receiver drafted in 2014, seventh overall, with only Buffalo's Sammy Watkins (fourth) ahead of him. Watkins is now on injured reserve with a foot injury that should sideline him most of the season, and Evans now lines up well with his draft classmates.

Entering Monday's game, Evans has 26 catches for 360 yards and three touchdowns -- only Benjamin has more touchdowns, and only Miami's Jarvis Landry has more catches (31) and receiving yards (375). By career numbers, Evans ranks second behind the Giants' Odell Beckham in yards and is third in catches (Landry and Beckham) and touchdowns (Beckham and the Jaguars' Allen Robinson). Incidentally, Evans ranks 10th among all NFL receivers in receiving yards since the start of 2014, also ranking in the top 20 in TDs and catches.
