Aqib Talib moving on to matchup with Roddy White
Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib made headlines for his post-game spat with an official last week, but he's got more pressing matters ahead with Falcons receiver Roddy White coming town on Sunday.
White said he's excited about his rematch with Talib after admitting that Talib got the better of him in their teams' first meeting last month.
"I’m sure he gets pumped up for every game at this time of the year," Talib said. "(They have) the best record in the league and they’re trying to stay home for the playoffs. And we’re trying to get into the playoffs, so it’s a crucial game for us. So he and I, we get pumped up week in, week out."
Talib knows his job in the Bucs' defense, and it's a tall order.
"We scheme our defense around me being in front of the other team’s best receiver," Talib said. "That’s my role on the team and I’m glad Raheem (Morris) made that my role."
As for White's assertion that Talib won the last matchup, Talib disagrees.
"We lost the game so I wasn’t really happy about anything watching that tape," Talib said. "He says I got the best of him, but they won the game. I feel like I lost the matchup."
Addressing the post-game dust-up with the game official for the first time, Talib said he will try to avoid such situations in the future.
"(I) definitely have to control the emotions better," he said. "It’s an emotional game and I was defending one of my teammates. It’s just an emotional game."
