Bucs Beat

With Bears narrowing their field of candidates, no mention of Bucs' Mike Sullivan

There are multiple reports circulating about developments in the Bears’ search for a head coach, a process that involves Bucs offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan.

Some reports, including from ESPN, indicate the field has been narrowed to two from the at least 12 known candidates. The Chicago Sun-Times, meanwhile, says there are three finalists.

The one thing none of these reports say is that Sullivan is among those still under consideration. He interviewed for the job two weeks ago, but the Bucs have remained in limbo ever since, waiting to learn whether they must add offensive coordinator to their current list of coaching vacancies.

Statistically speaking, the Bucs had a historic season on offense, and the thought of changing coordinators ahead of quarterback Josh Freeman’s critical upcoming season was disconcerting.

Things remain fluid in Chicago, but if the indications hold true, Sullivan seems like he’ll be staying in Tampa.
