Belichick on Schiano: 'I think the world of Greg'
Bill Belichick touched again this morning on his affinity for Bucs coach Greg Schiano.
“I think the world of Greg,” said Belichick, who recommended Schiano to the Bucs. “I think he’s a good coach. He’s got a great personality. He treats his players well. He’s smart. He’s tough. He did a great job with the Rutgers program. . . I’ve always been impressed with the way his teams performed. I don’t have any problem saying that at all.”
As for concerns about Schiano’s experience at the pro level, Belichick pointed to the fact that Schiano was a member of the Bears’ staff in the 1990s and that he’s coached a number of successful NFL players at the college level, including the Patriots’ own Vince Wilfork (at Miami) and Devin McCourty (at Rutgers).
“I think he’s a very experienced guy,” Belichick said. “He’s coached a lot of great players. He’s coached NFL players. They just weren’t in the NFL yet.”
