Brad Childress addresses Bucs opening
Former Vikings coach Brad Childress, in town to coach the West squad in the East-West Shrine Game, said today he hasn't had any dialogue with the Bucs since his interview with the club last week regarding its opening head coaching post.
"No. Don’t expect to," Childress said when asked whether he's heard from the team. "They said they were going to take their time and they are."
Childress said he came away from the interview fully expecting Tampa Bay to take its time in its search. The process could go well into next week at this point.
"No (not surprised) at all," Childress said. "It’s their team and they need to do as they see fit."
There had been reports Childress could be a candidate for offensive coordinator here under a different head coach. Childress didn't address that rumor specifically, but he did say he would be willing to undertake a coordinator role to re-start his coaching career.
"I wouldn’t rule that out," he said. "I just want to make sure it’s the right situation, with good people. I think that’s huge."
