Brian Price's agent suggests Raheem Morris overreacted

The agent for Bucs defensive tackle Brian Price questioned coach Raheem Morris' decision to order Price to the locker room after a costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalty during today's loss to the Panthers.

Morris said he told Price "to go home" after the penalty. But Price's agent, Chuck Price (no relation), suggested it was an overreaction.

"(Brian) regrets the untimeliness and the foolish nature of the penalty, but if that pentalty was on first down, would the coach have thrown him out of the game?" Chuck Price said. "For a kid who’s probably never had an unsportsmanlike (penalty)? He’s a guy who has played through some enormous challenges.

"He spent six days in a (walking) boot last week. It’s that same fight and attitude that probably (prompted the Bucs) to say, ‘I’m sorry you just got out of a boot, but go ahead and play football for us.’ I know Brian personally had to be disappointed because I know how he loves playing for Raheem. He’s made statements like he wouldn’t want to play for anyone else."

A key issue was what, exactly, Price did to draw the penalty. The action took place after the whistle and away from the ball, and FOX television showed no replays of the event. Even Morris admitted he wasn't certain what Price did. But according to Chuck Price, there was nothing more than the usual pushing and shoving often seen on game day.

"He said, 'I got into it after the play. I didn’t throw a punch,'" said Chuck Price, recounting his conversation with Brian. "It was just one of those things where he had the harder push. There wasn’t any blow to the head or anything like that."
