Browns trade with Vikings, shake up draft night
Remember earlier today when we debated what it might cost the Bucs to trade up in the draft?
Well, we now know the answer after the Browns have pulled off a surprising move, trading from the No. 4 spot to No. 3 with the Vikings, likely to ensure they'll land running back Trent Richardson. The Browns have long coveted Richardson and apparently were growing nervous that another team would leap frog them and select the Alabama star.
But the Bucs probably weren't prepared to pay the price the Browns reportedly have. According to Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer, the Browns yielded three picks in the deal: fourth, fifth- and seventh-round picks.
The Bucs, who don't own a fourth-round pick, likely would have had to part with their third-round pick to compete with that offer. With the Browns owning multiple picks in the later rounds, and were in much better position to swing a deal than the Bucs.
