Buccaneers will fill Jeff Faine's void by re-signing Mahan
The Bucs have already contacted recently-released Sean Mahan and have informed him of their intentions to re-sign him in the wake of center Jeff Faine's triceps injury.
Faine could miss as much as six weeks, leaving the Bucs thin on the interior of their offensive line. But Mahan, released two weeks ago, won't necessarily step in as the starting center. The Bucs are considering a scenario that would move left guard Jeremy Zuttah to center and moving a reserve into his original position.
Mahan has experience at guard and was once a starter there for the Bucs.
The Bucs will have to release a player to create an open spot on the active roster. It's not yet clear who they intend to release.
