Bucs agree to terms with former Texans LB Zach Diles

We told you last night the Bucs were looking to sign a young veteran linebacker to add to the depth at that position.

They appear to have found exactly such a player in free agent Zac Diles, who was released by the Rams on Saturday. Diles, 26, played for Bucs coach Raheem Morris at Kansas State when Morris was defensive coordinator there in 2006.

Diles' agent, Brian Ayrault, confirmed the signing.

Diles has started 30 games in his career, all for the Texans, who drafted him in the seventh round in 2007. He joined the Rams this offseason but did not make the team's final roster.

The Bucs were looking for depth particularly at middle linebacker, where Diles has experience. That's where he played when he played for Morris at KSU. Diles also has played outside linebacker, where he had a career-high 82 tackles last season in 15 games (including 10 starts) for the Texans.

The Bucs likely aren't done with roster moves today, with the team still considering options at tight end and at other positions. It wasn't immediately clear which player will be released to make room for Diles.
