Bucs decided against adding Oregon's LeGarrette Blount
Because so many readers have asked about him, we thought we should address Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount, the controversial prospect who drew interest from the Bucs but ultimately wasn't drafted.
General manager Mark Dominik said this evening that the team looked into the possibility of adding Blount, but the club made an organizational decision against drafting him. He didn't say anything negative about Blount, who was suspended for most of last season for violently punching an opposing Boise State player after a loss and went on a subsequent tirade.
"I think he’s a great kid," Dominik said. "We just made a decision on what we were going to do. With that, I would say that LeGarrette Blount is going to sign in the National Football League and he’s going to play. But we made a decision with this football team… and we drafted some guys that we’re really excited about being a part of this football team."
Sure enough, Blount reportedly was signed as a rookie free agent by the 49ers this evening.
