Bucs decision on Morris may not be announced today

Coaching decisions in the NFL are fluid and the Glazers may be thumbing thier pad of pink slips by the time you read this.

But based on experience and team officials, the Bucs aren't likely to have any announcement regarding the future of coach Raheem Morris today.

In fact, following their 45-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Morris sounded confident he would still be the Bucs coach through today. A more likely timetable for an announcement is Tuesday, no later than Wednesday.

“There will be a 10 o’clock meeting,'' Morris said following the game Sunday. "There will be another 11 o’clock one. We’ll have a 12 o’clock press conference and I’ll see ya there. I’ll go to the Outback Bowl in the afternoon and I’ll come back and do a radio show and be ready to deal and get ready for this off-season and be ready to attack.''

Morris was asked if he planned to remain as coach today.

“That’s like asking do you expect to be at work tomorrow?'' Morris said. Correct.'' 

The Glazers like to have all the information at hand before making coaching changes. It took several days to fire Tony Dungy. Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen weren't dismissed for nearly three weeks at the end of the 2008 season.

The St. Louis Rams reportedly have fired coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney. The Dolphins, Jaguars and Chiefs have decisions to make on interim coaches.

Traditionally, the Glazers have been big game hunters. They offered the job to Jimmy Johnson and Steve Spurrier before hiring Dungy in February. They pursued Bill Parcells to replace Dungy, then went after Steve Mariucci before trading for Gruden. The hirings of Morris and general manager Mark Dominik, who were already with the organization, were the exceptions.
