Bucs fill final roster spot with practice squad cornerback
The Bucs have used their final open roster spot to add cornerback D.J. Johnson, a promotion from the practice squad.
Johnson was an undrafted free agent with the Broncos last season before ending up on the Giants active roster. Johnson spent another seven weeks on New York's active roster this season before his release on Nov. 22. The Bucs signed him to their practice squad on Nov. 24. Johnson adds depth to the secondary after Aqib Talib was lost for the season with a hip injury on Sunday.
Taking Johnson's spot on the practice squad will be fullback Rendrick Taylor, a prospect from Clemson who spent the offseason with the Bucs. Taylor had been playing with Omaha in the UFL.
