Bucs free agents about to learn their fates
If things stays on course on the labor front, the NFL could be back to business in just a few days. And one of the first orders of business for the Bucs and other teams will be determining what to do with their own free agents.
The Bucs have several key free agents on which to make decisions, but we've gone through the roster to come up with a complete list as we head toward the anticipated opening of the negotiating period.
Here, then, to the best of our knowledge, are the Bucs' unrestricted free agents (players with expired contracts and at least four seasons of credited service):
LB Quincy Black: Two-year starter at strong-side; could draw real interest
DE Tim Crowder: Reliable backup and good locker room presence
TE John Gilmore: Veteran likely to be pushed aside by addition of Luke Stocker
LB Adam Hayward: Special teams ace and solid backup could return
G Davin Joseph: One of the league's better guards; Probably gets big payday from Bucs
LB Niko Koutouvides: Special teams contributor could be retained for depth
LB Barrett Ruud: Comes down to money after two years of rejected contract demands
WR Maurice Stovall: Another big special-teamer but lacks track record as a receiver
OT Jeremy Trueblood: Could probably be retained with a moderate contract
DE Stylez White: Likely the odd man out after top two draft picks used on DEs
Cadillac Williams: Was well-cast as third-down back but might be hoping for starting role
