Bucs hire Browns great Earnest Byner to coach running backs

UPDATE: The Tampa Bay Times has confirmed the hiring of Earnest Byner.

POSTED 12:46 p.m.: The Bucs are putting the finishing touches on their coaching staff, turning their attention to the remaining position-coach hires.

The latest development, according to Fox Sports, is the team's interview with Browns great Earnest Byner for the vacant running backs coach position.

Byner has been running backs coach for the Redskins, Titans and Jaguars, the latter of which just replaced him with Sylvester Croom after Jacksonville's recent coaching changes. Byner, 49, played 14 seasons for three teams, but it best remembered for his seven seasons in Cleveland.

Byner totaled 8,261 career rushing yards, 56 touchdowns and was named to two Pro Bowls.
