Bucs inactives include Kareem Huggins, Maurice Stovall

The Bucs have seven inactives today (they currently have just 52 total players, one below the league limit), and among them are running back Kareem Huggins and receiver Maurice Stovall.

Huggins has been recovering from a groin injury and probably could have played, but the team is going to wait before playing him since its entering its bye week. That would allow Huggins to fully recover from the injury and be ready for the remainder of the season. Stovall, meanwhile, was a late addition to the injury report on Saturday with a previouly undisclosed back injury.

The Bucs will compensate for the injuries several ways. For one, running backs Kregg Lumpkin and LeGarrette Blount are active today, with Blount warming up by taking snaps with the starting offense as I write this. Lumpkin is more likely to play than Blount, but it's possible you could see both.

At receiver, the Bucs have Preston Parker active for the first time.

The remaining inactives are: QB Rudy Carpenter, CB Myron Lewis, LB Niko Koutouvides, C/G Ted Larsen and DE Michael Bennett.
