Bucs kicker Connor Barth's confidence not shaken
Kicker Connor Barth missed his first and second field goal attempts of the season on Sunday, but he didn’t feel like his effort was a reason for alarm.
Both attempts – from 40 and 47 yards – hit the right upright, which Barth doesn’t see as such a horrible thing.
"I wouldn’t say I mis-hit them," said Barth, who was a perfect 6 for 6 entering the Saints game. "The 40-yarder was a good hit. It was straight down the hash. You’re talking inches from maybe hitting the upright and bouncing in or just getting in. I wouldn’t say hitting the upright is a bad thing. In the end result it’s not good because you’re not making three points. But that stuff happens. If you’re going to miss one, hit it off the upright. If I miss, I don’t miss by much."
Barth had a 31-yard game-winner the previous week at Cincinnati and had a string of 12 straight made field goals dating to last season.
"Consistency-wise, I’ve been good," he said. "I’ve just got to start a new streak."
When you think about it, Barth was consistent on Sunday, too, given the fact both kicks hit practically the exact same spot.
"That was interesting," he said. "I couldn’t do that if I tried. I think it hit the same spot twice."
