Bucs LB Geno Hayes understands Morris' criticism: "We have to be the guys that step up"

Bucs coach Raheem Morris singled out several defensive players about their play in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Lions, including LBs Quincy Black and Geno Hayes, "We need better plays out of our studs."

And Hayes, for one, would be the first to agree.

"Guys look towards us to make plays and do it on a consistent basis," Hayes said. "I'm glad he says it cause we already know it. Everybody else is trying to say, 'Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up,' and for the most part in our defense, the linebackers really carry the banner around here, so we have to be the guys that step up and make plays."

Hayes said he appreciates the fact Morris airs that kind of constructive criticism, "It makes us better when he says things like that."
