Bucs' Meredith not practicing Thursday, status in question
There could be a question of who will start at right guard for the Buccanners on Sunday, as starter Jamon Meredith was not practicing Thursday.
Meredith's absence wasn't surprising, as he rolled his ankle in practice Wednesday and was seen on crutches in the lockeroom. The injury report listed him officially as "limited" Wednesday, but the fact he was not out there Thursday raises some concerns over whether he could be ready Sunday against the Panthers.
Meredith, who has played for four teams over four seasons, has started the past five games, doing a nice job to step in for injured two-time Pro Bowler Davin Joseph. The offensive line has already shuffled so much due to injuries that coach Greg Schiano acknowledged Wednesday that they don't have many moves left.
Roger Allen, who has appeared in only three games over his four seasons and was promoted from the practice squad last month, is listed as Meredith's backup.
In other injury news, DE Michael Bennett (shoulder) was at practice Thursday after not participating Wednesday. LG Jeremy Zuttah (shoulder) also returned to practice.
