Bucs' Mossis Madu preparing for first game on active roster
Bucs running back Mossis Madu makes his debut on the active roster on Sunday after his promotion from the practice squad this week.
It’s unclear whether he’ll see any time outside of special teams duty, but the recent injuries at running back to LeGarrette Blount and Earnest Graham have taught the rookie free agent from Oklahoma to remain at the ready.
“I’ve learned that, unlike in college, where they say, ‘Oh, you’re a freshman. We’ll give you some leniency,’ you have to be ready here,” he said. “Here, you’re a pro and you’re getting a paycheck. You have to come in and make plays and produce.”
Madu said his role in practice changed this week. Whereas he saw mostly scout-team duty while on the practice squad, this week, he took reps relevant to the game plan.
“Every week, even when I was on the practice squad, I was paying attention to every detail,” Madu said. “Coming into this week, it’s nothing new. But I’m trying to study even more. I’m trying to stay active. I’m not trying to go back down to the practice squad.”
