Bucs RB Blount cleared to return to action by N.C. specialist
LeGarrette Blount can run with more confidence after being cleared by a Charlotte, N.C., specialist Wednesday to return to the playing field.
Blount suffered what general manager Mark Dominik referred to as a 'stinger,' in the second quarter of Sunday's 16-10 win over the Carolina Panthers and did not return to the game.
Although he was cleared by team doctors to continue playing Sunday, Dominik said the Bucs wanted to make sure there was no damage to his neck and back and sent Blount to a specialist in Charlotte for an MRI on his neck and back. Results were good and Blount will practice with his team on Thursday.
"He felt a stinger and it just made us nervous the way he felt it,'' Dominik said Wedneday. "That's part of the reason you saw what you saw because he lost some strength. That makes us obviously very nervous about our players. And so that's why we took it real serious about MRIs and had him go see a specialist out of state.
"He's back tonight and he'll be on the field tomorrow and ready to go.''
