Bucs RB/KR Clifton Smith signs 1-year tender
Bucs running back/kick returner Clifton Smith has signed his one-year tender as an exclusive rights free agent.
Smith entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2008 and burst onto the scene as one of the NFL's premier kick returners, earning a selection to the Pro Bowl after becoming the first Tampa Bay player to return a kickoff and punt for a touchdown in the same season.
Last year, Smith was only one of three players to rank in the top 11 in kick return (29.1) and punt return average (10.1). His kickoff return average was the second-best in club history. But Smith was plagued by multiple concussions and finished the season on Injured Reserve.
