Bucs release LG Keydrick Vincent, sign T Will Barker from the practice squad

The Bucs' youth movement has claimed the second-oldest player on their roster, 32-year-old Keydrick Vincent.

A starter at left guard for the first five games this season, Vincent was waived Friday. He is subject to waivers because it is after the trading deadline.

The Bucs signed tackle Will Barker off their practice squad. Vincent was inactive last week against the St. Louis Rams with back spasms, but he was cleared to practice this week. The Bucs did not allow him to participate in anticipation of this move.

Ted Larsen,  a rookie center/guard who was claimed off waivers from New England just prior to the regular-season opener, made his first pro start against the Rams.

The Bucs are hopeful that center Jeff Faine, who has missed the past two games with a quad injury, will play next week against Atlanta. Whenever he returns, the team plans to move Jeremy Zuttah from center to left guard.

"We feel like Zuttah is playing really good right now, he's playing better and better every week in what we're asking him to do, not only at center but also at guard,'' general manager Mark Dominik said. "Again, it's part of the long-term planning of this football team and the experience we can gather and the fact we like these guys coming off the practice squad and we don't want to lose them. Because once you bring them up, if you bring them back down, you have to expose them back to the wire again.''

Including the practice squad, the Bucs had 12 offensive linemen on their roster.

Starting right tackle Jeremy Trueblood left Sunday's game against the Rams with a knee injury, has not practiced this week and will not travel with the team to Arizona. The Bucs plan to start James Lee at right tackle and needed Barker for depth.

The Bucs were pleased with Larsen's play last week, although he did have a false start penalty. He will face Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett.

"It's really the ascension of the young guys,'' Dominik said.
