Bucs release veteran DT Sims
Another rookie has pushed a veteran off the Bucs roster.
Tampa Bay released 30-year-old defensive tackle Ryan Sims, just two days after newly acquired rookie defensive tackle Al Woods recorded a tackle and half sack in the Bucs' 21-0 win at San Francisco.
Woods was signed off the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad after the team placed second-round pick Brian Price on injured reserve with a pelvic stress fracture.
The former LSU product made his debut at Atlanta Nov. 7 and has seven tackles.
Sims, a former first-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, arrived in Tampa Bay in 2007. He missed the last three games with a leg injury. The Bucs are expected to make a roster move to fill Sims' spot on Wednesday.
