Bucs shuffle offensive line ahead of kickoff versus Raiders
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Bucs are nearing their kickoff here against the Raiders this afternoon, and we now know for sure what their plan is in the wake of Carl Nicks' season-ending injury.
With their All-Pro left guard out, the Bucs have, as expected, decided to move Jeremy Zuttah to left guard and insert Ted Larsen at center. Zuttah has been the team's starting center and the plan was to have him play there permanently. But the injuries on the line -- Davin Joseph was injured in the preseason and is on injured reserve -- have forced some unconventional moves.
Larsen and Zuttah are both best when playing center, coaches believe, but Zuttah has a long history at guard and has had some success there.
For the rest of the line, the Bucs' inactives are running back Michael Smith, cornerback Danny Gorrer, defensive back Keith Tandy, linebacker Jacob Cutrera, linebacker Najee Goode, guard Roger Allen and receiver Chris Owusu.
