Bucs sign Raiders LB Jon Alston
The Bucs were active in free agency after all.
Tampa Bay signed Raiders free agent linebacker Jon Alston after he visited the team Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Alston originally was drafted in the third round by the Rams out of Stanford. He had 23 tackles last season with the Raiders in nine games, including four starts. He eventually went on injured reserve following a pair of concussions.
The Raiders did not tender Alston, making him an unrestricted free agent.
The Bucs did not tender linebacker Matt McCoy and need depth at the outside linebacker position. Alston also has visited the New York Jets but left without signing a contract.
The Bucs also are working on a contract for Eagles safety Sean Jones, who concluded a visit with the team Friday.
