Bucs will involve more players on offense this week

The Bucs are going to implement more players into their offensive game plan this week, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

To follow up on something we've been telling you about, the most notable change will be on the offensive line. That's where Keydrick Vincent will now team with Jeremy Zuttah at left guard. Vincent is expected to remain the starter, but he will rotate with Zuttah during games. Asked if it was an unconventional approach, Olson point out that it's a tactic used effectively by many teams.

Elsewhere on offense, Olson is looking at getting RB Kareem Huggins and others more involved in the backfield. After Williams finished Sunday's game with 24 total touches, Olson said he began to consider the wisdom of using him so heavily on a weekly basis.

"I don't know if we can give him that kind of workload every week and expect him to get through the season," Olson said.

Olson didn't get too specific about the team's plans, but they include using Huggins, the backup running back, and recent acquisition Kregg Lumpkin, who might see some time at fullback and possibly tailback in "an Earnest Graham type of role," Olson said.

Finally, Olson said he would like to get TE John Gilmore on the field to take advantage of his blocking ability. Gilmore is not the receiving threat that Kellen Winslow or Jerramy Stevens are, but he is a solid blocker who likely can help the Bucs in the running game.
