Bucs working to add tight end depth

When the Bucs waived three of their five tight ends in final cuts on Saturday, you knew there would be more news to come at the position.

The Bucs haven't settled on a third tight end just yet, but they're trying.

Tampa Bay put in waiver claims on two young tight ends on Sunday but lost out because of waiver priority. The Bucs targeted Lee Smith and Will Yeatman, both of whom were released by the Patriots at final cuts. Smith ended up being awarded to the Bills while Yeatman was awarded to the Dolphins.

The Bucs' 10-6 record last year means their priority on the waiver wire is much lower, similar to the way draft choices are prioritized based on the previous season's records.

It's almost a certainty the Bucs will add a third tight end before the season begins. They also must make a roster move to accommodate free-agent linebacker Zac Diles, with whom they agreed to terms on Sunday.
