Safety Corey Lynch put one huge exclamation point on his preseason tonight, grabbing two interceptions and returning one for 91-yard touchdown.

Lynch has previously made his name on special teams, where he has shown a proficiency for blocking kicks. But he showed excellent instincts in the secondary tonight that will make the Bucs stop and think.

Asked tonight whether Lynch played his way onto the final roster, coach Raheem Morris stopped short of a guarantee.

"It was a great game for evaluation," Morris said. "I never want to tell you that soembody’s made the roster. We always want to go back and evaluate the tape and look at everybody individually and look at everbody collectively as a group and figure out where your team is.

"He had a great game though."

Lynch's best shot would be for the Bucs to keep five safeties, but that would be a departure from the past and a different approach than most teams. Four is a more likely number, meaning Lynch is in competition with Cody Grimm (who I think is a lock) and Sabby Piscitelli, who is a former second-round pick but has lost his starting job.

This is just one of the difficult calls the Bucs will have to make in the next 36 hours. Final cuts are due Saturday afternoon.
