Could embattled Saints linebacker Jon Vilma play against the Bucs?
Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma, suspended for a full season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in the Saints’ “Bounty-gate” scandal, plans to play on Sunday against the Bucs.
Vilma is appealing the decision and that appeal is not expected to be heard until next week.
Under that scenario, Vilma could play on Sunday if the Saints choose to activate him. He is eligible to re-join their active roster after spending the past six weeks on the physically unable to perform list because of a knee injury.
Saints interim coach Aaron Kromer would comment on Vilma’s availability earlier today. But according to WVUE-TV in New Orleans, Vilma is confident his injured left knee is in good shape.
"I'm feeling good, feeling good," he told the station. "I know that the media hasn't seen much of me for a while, but I've actually been working out, working hard, training hard so I can get to this point to be able to give our team a chance to win in Tampa Bay."
