Deadline nearing for Bucs to declare Monday Night Football sellout

The Bucs face an 8:30 p.m. deadline tonight to declare a sellout of their Monday Night Football game against the Colts that would permit the game to be shown on local television.

Ticket sales were said by the team to be brisk as of Tuesday, when the club said just 2,000 tickets remained. So far, however, no official word of a sellout has come down.

NFL rules require that games must be sold out at least 72 hours prior to kickoff or games cannot be shown in the local television market. The Bucs have endured blackouts in 10 consecutive regular-season games, dating to the start of the 2010 season. The team cites the the region's particularly high unemployment rate as the chief reason for the drop in sales.

Raymond James Stadium seats more than 65,000. The announced crowds at this season's two previous home games was 51,274 (Lions) and 46,995 (Falcons).
