Falcons may use Raheem Morris' "best team in the NFC" comment as motivation
The Falcons were certainly made aware of the comments made by Bucs coach Raheem Morris last week that Tampa Bay is the "best team in the NFC."
And now that Falcons and the Bucs, both tied at 5-2 atop the NFC South, will meet Sunday in Atlanta, more than the division lead could be on the line.
“It’s good they got that confidence to say they are the best team,” safety William Moore told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. “You’ve got to back that up when you say stuff like that. We are definitely looking forward to the show.”
Morris said he wasn't trying to brag with his comments or call out other teams, with his motivation mostly to motivate his own young players. But Falcons LB Mike Peterson told the paper that he had to hit the rewind button when he heard what Morris said.
“With all this new technology you can back it up,” Peterson said. “I was like, ‘let me back that up.’ I was sitting with a couple of my friends and they were like ‘did he really say that.’ Tell him thank you.’ ”
