Fired Bucs coach Raheem Morris in demand
On Thursday, word emerged that fired Bucs coach Raheem Morris was in discussions about a possible job coaching the Redskins' secondary.
Now, he is said to be under consideration for another job with a different team. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Morris is going to be interviewed by the Vikings for a "high level" defensive position. The thinking is that the position is likely the defensive coordinator post, because Minnesota is considering a change in its defensive coaching staff.
The Vikings run a version of the Tampa 2 defense that Morris has had experience with since his arrival in Tampa Bay in 2002 under defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. The Vikings have had success in hiring former Bucs coaches. They brought in former Bucs defensive assistant Mike Tomlin as their defensive coordinator in 2006, and his instant success garnered him consideration by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who named him their head coach the following year.
Minnesota hasn't fired its defensive staff yet, but if and when they do, look for a possible Raheem Morris hiring.
