First round pick Barron says contract will get done
Bucs safety Mark Barron is the team's only draft pick who remains unsigned. But the first-round choice from Alabama does not anticipate any problem reaching an agreement with the team.
"No, not at all. It's just a few things that have to get worked out and that's it,'' Barron said Tuesday.
Because of the rookie salary cap, holdouts are mostly a thing of the past. The Falcons and Panthers have already signed all their draft picks. Tampa Bay has $3.536 million left under this year’s rookie pool.
Barron was the seventh overall choice in the draft. Carolina’s Luke Kuechly, the No. 9 overall pick, signed a four-year deal worth up to $12.578 million that averages $3.144 million a year. He also received a $7.588 million signing bonus.
Barron's contract should come in just north of that.
