Former Bears DE Alex Brown reportedly visiting Bucs
The Bears released defensive end last week, and he's already making the rounds as a free agent.
His travels will now reportedly bring him to Tampa, this according to ESPN info man Adam Schefter, who posted the news on Twitter.
The Bucs have long said they're going to build through the draft and not concentrate on free agency as a main tool in rebuilding their roster, but they also have maintained that they wouldn't be opposed to adding a free agent here and there if it's someone who fits.
Brown might fit the profile. He's 30, so he wouldn't exactly be part of the youth movement, but defensive end is a position that remains pretty thin. Brown is in New Orleans with the Saints today and it's not clear whether they are attempting to sign him. The Panthers are also said to be a possible suitor.
The Saints would seem to have great interest in Brown given their decision to release starting left end Charles Grant. But the Bucs would be appealing to Brown if for no other reason than he is a native of Jasper in north Florida and played at the University of Florida.
We'll follow this and let you know if there are any developments.
