Former USF star Tyrone McKenzie joins Bucs' active roster
The Bucs today officially placed defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Quincy Black on injured reserve, filling their spots on the active roster with former USF linebacker Tyrone McKenzie and defensive end George Johnson.
Both players are being promoted from the practice squad.
McKenzie joined the practice squad last month shortly after his release from the Patriots. He was a third-round pick of New England in 2009 but spent his rookie season on injured reserve after a season-ending knee injury.
Johnson, a rookie free agent from Rutgers, spent the offseason with Tampa Bay but failed to make the final roster. He has been on the practice squad ever since.
The Bucs also added practice-squad prospect J.D. Folsom, a linebacker who has spent time on the Cardinals' and Dolphins' practice squads this season.
