Freeman fractures tip of thumb on throwing hand; expected to be ready for opener vs. Browns
Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman fractured the tip of the right thumb on his throwing hand and will miss the remainder of the preseason.
Freeman was injured on the first series during the Bucs preseason game against the Chiefs Saturday night. The Bucs said Freeman is expected to practice and be ready for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
Freeman was injured after going 2-of-4 for 21 yards and leading the Bucs deep into Chiefs’ territory. But on third-and-5 at the Kansas City 13-yard line, Freeman’s throwing hand hit the helmet of Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali on a pass attempt to Sammie Stroughter.
